Sanitary Lash Practices During COVID-19
The current state of events regarding the rapid spread of the potentially fatal COVID-19 (Coronavirus), has the beauty industry coming to an extreme slow down. If you choose to continue taking clients during this time of social distancing, there are a few extra measures you can take to help slow the spread of the virus.
If your city is under quarantine or lock down guidelines of any kind, please respect the request of government officials and do not take clients in your salon, or at home. Aki Lashes is not encouraging taking lash appointments while these measures are in effect.
Upgrade your mask: During this time of heightened precaution, you may want to upgrade your normal lash mask to a N99 Filter Mask. These masks have a better fit on the face, and filter out 99% of particles as small as 0.01 micron. The virus is 0.12 microns, making these masks an effective filter.
Wash your hands: Before and after taking clients, you should be thoroughly washing and sanitizing your hands using an alcohol-based sanitizer. Avoid touching your face while working with a client.
Clean and disinfect surfaces: Wipe down your working areas, and all surfaces, and doorknobs in between clients. Use disinfecting wipes and sprays to thoroughly clean high traffic areas.
Do not take sick clients: If a client is not 100%, you do not want them to potentially spread germs in your lash salon, where you will host other people. Be a responsible lash artist and send this person home.
Slowing down the spread of the virus is critical to ensure those who are afflicted, will be able to get the medical treatment they need. Please help to do your part in making an effort to take extra precautions. While you may be able to recover from the virus, many immunocompromised people will have a more difficult experience with this global pandemic.
